A House and Job Update with Pictures!

Filed under: Chris,New House — Chris at 11:42 am on Sunday, January 31, 2010

Well, it’s been far too long, but we’ve been pretty busy since we landed back in Canada just over a month ago.

The quick updates. We’re both working. Megan got a great job with a new agency called the Today Family Violence Help Center and I (Chris) am back with Enquiro doing internet marketing.

We bought a great little VW Golf TDI that we’ve named Sven. He’s blue.

And most exciting, we bought ourselves a house. People have been bugging us (when they’re not asking us to update this site) for pictures, so here we go! We’re supposed to get possession at the end of next week. It’ll be nice to have our own space and be able to stretch out a little bit after living out of suitcases and small rooms for the past several months. Enjoy!

Six Days Left!

Filed under: Chris — Chris at 4:37 pm on Sunday, May 17, 2009

There’s only six days left until the big day! Megan and I are both really excited. We’re also grateful for all the family and friends who have been helping us get all the last minute things taken care of. I think we’ve covered almost everything.

We’ve had a couple questions about our plans, so here’s the next few months in a nutshell.

After the wedding we’re taking a week to drive back to Kelowna. We’re going to stop in Jasper, Banff, Revelstoke and wherever else strikes our fancy. Then we’re spending the rest of the summer in Kelowna. I’ll keep working for Enquiro and Megan will find something in Kelowna.

Then, at the end of August the real fun begins; we’ll be heading to Ireland for a year or so! We’ll come back and stop in Edmonton for a while to see my brother, his wife and their (by then) new baby. Then we’ll jump on a plane to Ireland, final destination: Cork.

After that, who knows!

Life is groovy…except for the distance

Hi Y’all!

It’s been a wee while since our last post and lots has changed.

I’m still working at Enquiro and enjoying myself there. They seem to like me, so that’s a good thing.

Megan’s back in Edmonton for the summer, and she’s doing three courses. Her plan to space them out went a little sideways, so now she’ll be taking two at the same time during May. There’s no better way to enjoy the spring than spending 6 hours a day in a classroom.

Meg also bought a condo in Kelowna for next year, since we did the numbers and it’s the same cost or less to rent. We also met a super-cool Realtor here named Kristen.

Wedding-wise, we’ve booked a church, a reception hall, a photographer, and picked a caterer. I think that’s all the big ones out of the way….

That’s about all the news for now. Life is busy and good. I miss Megan, but it’s only 900km. Not nearly as bad as our Canada-Germany-Scotland phase.

Snow and Wood Paneling

It’s been a while since we’ve posted anything of real substance so here’s some real substance.

I (Chris) accepted a job with an online marketing firm, and I’ll start that on the 11th. Megan’s been doing her practicum this semester with the Kelowna Women’s shelter, doing a program called “Inside Out” in local high schools. We’ve both managed to get up to the ski hills a decent amount and spend time with friends from church.

Last weekend we flew back to Edmonton to spend time with our families, and on Saturday we went back out to the Officer’s Mess at CFB Edmonton (Namao). It’s even nicer than I remembered. The only thing we weren’t sure about from last time was the dining room and dance floor/bar area are on two different levels, but now that we’ve seen it again it’s not going to be a problem. The dining room is a nice size, wood paneled walls, nice art, good light. The dance floor/bar area has a nice bar, a fireplace or two, and lots of leather chairs and couches. It’ll be a pretty sweet deal.

Big White has seen about a foot of snow in the last week. Megan’s mom and brother are going to be out this weekend for some skiing and we’re excited to spend some more time with them.

Things are looking good, and we’re looking forward to the early spring!

Hope you all have a blessed Lent!

Where is my heart? In a venn diagram next to Vanilla Ice.

My Heart in a Venn Diagram

Megan sent me this earlier today and it’s a pretty good diagram of why we love eachother. It works for both of us, except for the Vanilla Ice thing. I have no greater love for the world due to Vanilla Ice, but who can argue with a Venn diagram.
